Over Optimise Penalty From Google - What Now Team SEO?

So Google's Matt Cutts made it public recently at SXSW that there is a upcoming "over-optimization" algo for SEOs abusing search engine optimisation. Beside this announcement on 10 March 2012, there has been many panicky SEO agencies out there the past week or so. Fearing things like private blog networks being de-indexed which occured 19 March 2012, distressful about their rankings being affected. Take a deep breath, sit back, relax or on the other hand are you guilty of link manipulation and spam?

If you are guilty, panick and when you are done panick some more! (Luckily I am not in a panick state of mind haha)

So the last Google Layout Algorithm Update already hinted more on how serious Google is about quality and the ideal user experience. Now they are taking it more off site as well, by stating the following:

What about the people optimizing really hard and doing a lot of SEO. We don't normally pre-announce changes but there is something we are working in the last few months and hope to release it in the next months or few weeks. We are trying to level the playing field a bit. All those people doing, for lack of a better word, over optimization or overly SEO – versus those making great content and great site. We are trying to make GoogleBot smarter, make our relevance better, and we are also looking for those who abuse it, like too many keywords on a page, or exchange way too many links or go well beyond what you normally expect. We have several engineers on my team working on this right now.

Look if you are a true SEO or serious-minded Inbound Marketer, then you would know not to take part in any type of spam or grey hat techniques. So moral of the story is when you create an overall online presence make sure your website, social media portals, content, blog, newsrooms and business itself is top-quality. This way there will be no keyword stuffing, links will vary from all different types you get, people will socially engage and most important of all your business will expand and have true success.
